Privacy Policy

PinThePrice is a location-based real-estate guessing game. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Because the game is built around maps and distances, location data matters — we treat it carefully and describe it explicitly below.

Information we collect

• Account identity. When you sign up or use social login (Google, Apple, Facebook) we receive an account identifier and your email address via our identity provider (AWS Cognito). We store your email to power social features such as finding friends and sending invitations.
• Profile & preferences. Display name, language, market/region, unit (m²/sq ft), game mode, notification frequency, discovery radius, and time-zone offset.
• Location data. With your permission, your device's approximate GPS position is used to show nearby properties and to measure how close your guesses are. We also cache your last known latitude/longitude as a fallback when live location is unavailable.
• Gameplay data. The properties you guess, your submitted valuations, guessed coordinates, scores, and your friend connections.

How we use location

• To render the map and surface properties within your chosen discovery radius.
• To calculate distance-based scores for your guesses.
• Location does not need to be precise: if live GPS is off, we fall back to your last cached position. You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings — the game still works using your last known or manually chosen area.

How we use the rest of your data

• To create and maintain your account and game state.
• To personalize the experience (language, units, market, radius).
• To provide social features (friend search, follow, invitations).
• To send notifications at the frequency you choose.

Sharing and third parties

• AWS Cognito — authentication and identity management.
• Map provider (OpenStreetMap / Mapbox) — to render maps; map tile requests may include the map area you are viewing.
• Object storage — property images are served from our own storage.
• Other players see limited profile information (name, and email only among mutually connected friends). We do not sell your personal data.

Data retention and deletion

• We keep your data while your account is active.
• You can permanently delete your account from the app. This removes or anonymizes your profile, preferences, cached location, and guess history, and deletes your identity record with our authentication provider. Deletion is irreversible.

Your rights

You can access and update your preferences in-app, revoke location permission at any time via your device, and request deletion of your account and associated data.
